Cork-born Shane O'Neill could be World Cup bound

The son of an All-Ireland winner could be on a plane to Brazil.

COLORADO RAPIDS DEFENDER Shane O’Neill has been asked by Jürgen Klinsmann to attend the US national team’s January training camp.

The 20-year old, who is the son of Cork All-Ireland winner Colm, has already played for the US under-20s side and tweeted the news of his call-up this evening:

While O’Neill has insisted he remains open to the prospect of playing for Ireland — and this is only an invite to a training camp — a ticket to Brazil would surely tempt the Midleton man to pledge his allegiance to the US.
