Captained by Ballesteros’s old friend and compatriot Jose Maria Olazabal, the European team lined out for their official photo at Medinah Country Club on Tuesday morning.
Each player’s specially designed golf bag bears the iconic image of Ballesteros celebrating his win at the 1984 Open Championship with a clenched fist.
It has also been reported that Europe will wear the Spaniard’s trademark navy jumper, white shirt and trousers for Sunday’s singles matches.
The match is the first between Europe and the USA since Ballesteros’s death from cancer in May 2011. He played in eight Ryder Cups and famously had the honour of captaining the team to an emotional win in his native country at Valderrama in 1997.
“Seve is going to be there in our team in some way or form,” Olazabal said in the lead-up to Friday’s tee-off . “We are going to miss him a lot. It’s the first time he is not going to be with us. He was a special man.”
