Clubs await Setanta Sports Cup fate

The draw for the 2013 Setanta Sports Cup takes place in Stormont this afternoon.

FOUR AIRTRICITY LEAGUE clubs will learn their fate when the draw for the 2013 Setanta Sports Cup is made later this afternoon.

League runners-up Drogheda United are joined in the hat for the first round by St Patrick’s Athletic, Cork City and Shamrock Rovers, winners of the competition in 2011.

Cliftonville, Glentoran, Portadown and Coleraine are the unseeded IFA Premiership teams in the draw, which takes place in Stormont.

The tournament kicks off with the two-legged first round matches scheduled to take place on Monday 11 February and 18 February 2013.

The four first-round winners will then be joined in the quarter-finals by this year’s seeded teams: cup holders Crusaders, last year’s beaten finalists Derry City, Airtricity League champions Sligo Rovers and IFA Premiership winners Linfield.

The final is scheduled for 11 May.
