AFTER MISSING A short birdie putt just minutes earlier – a slip that ensured a playoff with Justin Rose – Sergio Garcia was calm and composed as he stepped up to the same green and the same pin to try, again, and win his first ever major.
After his tee-shot put him in immediate trouble, Rose struggled to make up the lost ground, subsequently missed his putt for par and had to make do with a bogey.
Garcia had two shots to win.
But all he needed was one.

Brilliant stuff from the lads. Up the Dubs
Is there any point having a leinster championship at any grade?
@Mel Roberts: well it might help players develop
@Mel Roberts: what do you suggest they do Mel?
@flaming mo: theres no fix for it now. The damage has been done with the funding. Would take another 20 years to fix it
@Mel Roberts: do you have any other lines
@Mel Roberts: So by your reckoning Dublin should win all the Leinster championships in football, hurling, ladies football and camogie for at least the next 20 years…. Hope you’re right and there’s more good times ahead!!!
@Mel Roberts: please explain your logic, if true Dublin would be cleaning up in Hurling also. Fact is, last Minor All Ireland success was 1965. Under 21 have no All Ireland success
@clarkson: this hurling bull doesn’t wash boys. The money was pumped into football and you well know it
@clarkson: They have improved no end in hurling terms so your argument doesn’t really stand up!
@Mel Roberts: what’s your view on Munster
@vinnybee: probably every bit as bad but at least cork seem to be on the way back
@Mel Roberts: you whinge when people don’t give Tyrone any credit but continue to acknowledge the greatness of this Dublin team
@Phil O Stine: wanna write that again?
@Darren Lambe: beaten well last year Darren and haven’t kicked on since the league & Leinster win 8 years ago. Don’t know where you’re from but if that’s your measure of improvement god help your county
@Mel Roberts: think Munster gets a free pass compared to criticism of Leinster , I get that Dublin are great, and have advantages, but that doesn’t excuse the incompetence in Kildare and Meath,
@my name: jesus is that 8 years ago?
@Mel Roberts: yeah man. Long time to be kicking on from isn’t it
Kildare dominant minor football team in Leinster in recent years. Dublin have only won one MFC title in last 5 years. Underage superiority – I don’t think so.
How would Archer fair in Senior team?
