Serena Williams tells the world she doesn't like sports, and would rather go shopping

In a blow to feminism, arguably the best female tennis player of the last ten years says she doesn’t exactly love her day job.

SERENA WILLIAMS HAS admitted that she doesn’t like sport, doesn’t love tennis and would much rather spend her time sitting down or shopping.

The American recorded an impressive comeback win over South Africa’s Chanelle Scheepers in the first round of the Brisbane Invitational on Monday, triumphing 6-2 6-3, but says that she is cutting back her schedule for 2012 as she looks to life after tennis.

“I just want to be able to do other things that I’m doing and expand on that. I think that helps keep my motivation up,” she said.

The 30-year-old Williams took the latter part of 2011 off as she concentrated on her other ventures, including acting, studying, owning the Miami Dolphins and having a bit of a lie down.

”I mean I don’t love tennis today, but I’m here, and I can’t live without it… so I’m still here and I don’t want to go anywhere any time soon,” added Williams.

”It’s not that I’ve fallen out of love – I’ve actually never liked sports, and I never understood how I became an athlete. I don’t like working out, I don’t like anything that has to do with working physically.

“If it involves sitting down or shopping, I’m excellent at it.”
