Reid, Doyle and Elliot ruled out of Serbia friendly

Martin O’Neill has no plans to call up any replacements though.

THE FAI TODAY announced that three players have been ruled out of Wednesday’s friendly against Serbia at the Aviva Stadium.

Andy Reid (groin), Rob Elliot (knee) and Kevin Doyle (thigh) have all had to withdraw from Martin O’Neill’s squad.

Reid was sidelined earlier this week with a hernia injury but Doyle has withdrawn despite playing the full 90 minutes as QPR secured a 1-1 draw with Leeds today. Indeed, Doyle played a significant in both goals.

Firstly, a slight deflection of the striker’s head helped Leeds take the lead through Ross McCormack before his one-two with Jermaine Jenas brought Rangers level.

Newcastle ‘keeper Elliot wasn’t on the bench for the Magpies’ controversial 4-1 win over Hull today and will once again have to wait before making his Ireland debut.

The Irish management team are not expected to call in any replacements to the now 26-man squad.
