Seahawks fans set new record as the world's loudest crowd

Russell Wilson threw three touchdowns as the Seahawks trounced the Saints last night.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS FANS had plenty to shout about last night — and they set a new Guinness World Record for the loudest crowd roar.

The Seahawks cemented their place as Super Bowl contenders with a brilliant 34-7 win against NFC rivals New Orleans Saints.

And their 12th man in the stands played their part by regaining their title as the world’s nosiest fans.

The crowd of 68,387 at CenturyLink Field registered a reading of 137.6 decibels, slightly less than a military jet at takeoff.

The noise topped the previous record of 137.5db, set by the Kansas City Chiefs in October. Prior to that, Seattle had held the record at 136.6db.

On top of that, the Seattle Times reports that Seahawks fans also triggered a small earthquake as they jumped up and down to celebrate Michael Bennett’s fumble return for a touchdown.

The ‘quake’ was picked up on the same seismometer that captured Marshawn Lynch’s famous “Beast Quake” TD, also against the Saints, in 2011.
