Fresh injury concern for Sean O'Brien as he meets with shoulder specialist

The Leinster openside is seeking further counsel on the injury that keep him out for so much of last season.

DESPITE A POSITIVE outlook from the province over Sean O’Brien’s ankle injury yesterday, Leinster have today confirmed that the flanker is to see a specialist regarding a shoulder problem.

O’Brien missed the majority of the second half of last season after dislocating his shoulder.

Although he was positive about the issue before the beginning of the season his Friday appointment with the specialist does not bode well for his hopes of a swift return.

Leinster have issued more positive news on the progress of centre Noel Reid, saying his he has shown no ill effects after training on Monday and Tuesday. Richardt Strauss is certainly available for selection after coming through another week of training unscathed.

Dave Kearney is back participating in non-contact training, but will not take part in a full session for “another few weeks”. Zane Kirchner and Shane Jennings [both hamstring] are also confirmed absentees for Saturday’s clash with Munster.
