Sean Cavanagh looks set to play on for a 16th season with Tyrone

Cavanagh will turn 34 next year but he’s clearly still got unfinished business with the reigning Ulster champions.

TYRONE CAPTAIN SEAN Cavanagh isn’t ready to bring an end to his illustrious inter-county career just yet.

The Moy clubman has provided some positive news for Tyrone fans this evening by confirming that he intends to play for his county again next season.

Cavanagh, who’ll turn 34 in February, took to Twitter to state that he’ll be back in the Tyrone jersey again in 2017 — as long as he’s “fit and healthy enough” to do so.

Having made his senior inter-county debut in 2002, Cavanagh has already given 15 seasons of service to Tyrone, during which he has won three All-Ireland titles, five Ulster Championships and two National Leagues.

Cavanagh, who was Footballer of the Year in 2008, captained Tyrone to their first Ulster SFC title in six years back in the summer when they defeated Donegal in the final.

However, his season ended in disappointing fashion as he was sent off in Tyrone’s defeat to Mayo in the All-Ireland quarter-finals.
