SECOND-HALF GOALS by Sean Cavanagh and Ronan O’Neill helped Tyrone crush Westmeath in today’s Division 1 league encounter in Omagh.
The result puts Tyrone back on track for a league semi-final place as they recovered from last week’s disappointing showing against Kerry in Killarney.

For Paul Bealin’s Westmeath it was another tough afternoon and after five defeats in their games to date in the league, they are on course for relegation and a return to Division 2 football next spring.
Westmeath challenged Tyrone strongly in the opening period and were only 0-10 to 0-9 adrift at the break with Denis Glennon catching the eye with his point-scoring.
Tyrone started the second-half strongly and went seven points clear before being rocked by a goal from Westmeath substitute Ray Connellan in the 49th minute.
Suddenly there was only four points between the teams but Tyrone took control and closed the game out in style. Ronan O’Neill bagged their first goal in the 47th minute before Sean Cavanagh wrapped up the points with a second goal four minutes from time.
