Despite an excellent Seamus Coleman assist, Newcastle prolonged Everton's torrid run

Arouna Kone scored for the Toffees but it was the home side that won out after a stirring comeback.

AROUNA KONE HAS had to wait patiently for his first Premier League start and goal since joining from Wigan last year. But thanks to Seamus Coleman, he needed just over four minutes to get off the mark against Newcastle this afternoon.

The Magpies were level within 30 minutes. Papiss Cisse turning in a fine half volley.

And the Magpies took the lead early in the second half when Ayoze Perez picked the ball up in the area and expertly made a yard before rifling low inside Tim Howard’s near post.

It was 3-1 later in the half when Jack Colback capitalised on an error from Ross Barkley before slipping the ball past Howard to the far corner.

And despite Kevin Miralles popping up with a late Everton goal, Alan Pardew’s side dug deep to see out the victory and inflict another poor result on Everton.

The Toffees have now registered just one win from their last seven league games.
