And the ‘crack’ sound when the replay slows down is downright scary.

NEW ZEALAND, EH?

This is a try from the Central North Island Secondary Schools championship match between Wanganui and St Paul’s Collegiate.

We join the action in the second half with the visiting St Paul’s on the attack and leading 17-3. The out-half is Kip Fawcett (a son, reports the Wanganui Chronicle, of former All Black Kit Fawcett) and he easily plots a route through the first line of defence.

He gets his offload away just in time to Stephen Perofeta before blindside Ruslan Casey hits him (very, very) hard from behind to send his body and neck flying in two different directions.

Watch the slow-mo replay for the deafening sound of the whiplash. Ouch indeed.

Fawcett got up instantly, but he was evidently still seeing stars as he missed the subsequent conversion.

St Paul’s, if you’re interested, held on to win 22-10.
