SCHALKE ARE INTO the Champions League knock-out stages after a 2-0 win at home to Basel in Group E of the Champions League, thanks in part to this remarkably offside goal from Joël Matip. Even the centre back himself seemed to think he was about to be stopped by the ref’s whistle and he hesitated before putting the ball past Basel ‘keeper Yann Sommer.
The Swiss side certainly have grounds for feeling aggrieved that the goal was allowed to stand. Julian Draxler scored the opening goal of the game for Schalke.
UEFA should put someone behind the goal to stop this sort of thing happening. Oh wait, they do
If you look, UEFA had someone right in line, clearly able to see, called a linesman, though they usually call them assistants, which is stupid as they never make a right call when something is wrong..
Wait, what? Of course they never make the right call when something is wrong. If they did, it wouldn’t be wrong!?
So two wrongs make a right or not? Confused now…
It’s obvious, match fixing.
Should have gone to specsavers….
