MUNSTER RUGBY CONFIRMED on Saturday evening that scrum-half Peter Stringer is to join Saracens on a three-month loan deal.
The Corkman has fallen down the pecking order at Thomond Park – behind the likes of Conor Murray and Tómas O’Leary – and the Reds agreed to the Premiership club’s offer as it was “in the best interests of the player himself”, according to a statement.

Stringer said: “I believe I still have a lot to offer and want to continue to play at the highest level.
“In the situation I currently find myself, that is outside the Munster match day squad, I think this temporary switch to Saracens will serve my ambition best.
“This offers me a new challenge, and I’m grateful to Munster management for their co-operation.”
Stringer and the club would appear to be a good fit as Sarries – guided by former by former Ulster boss Mark McCall – recently lost the services of a second nine.
Richard Wigglesworth was ruled out for the rest of the season following knee surgery while Neil de Kock fractured his arm recently and is expected to be on the sidelines for at least three months.
When contacted by TheScore.ie on Saturday afternoon, a spokesperson for Saracens said the club did not comment on ‘speculation’.
Stringer recently featured for the Barbarians in their Test match against Australia and is expected to join his new club with immediate effect.
