IRELAND IS UP two bronze medals, at the very least, this afternoon after a successful days’ work at the European Championships of women’s boxing and rowing.
Kilkenny native Clare Grace is through to the semi finals of her 69kg weight division after defeating Turkish opponent Kara Guluzar in her last eight bout.
The former DCU boxing representative received a bye into the quarters, in Bucharest, and is guaranteed a bronze. She will be targeting a place in the final later in the week at the elite event.
The country’s second medal success arrived in the women’s single sculls at the rowing European Championships, held in Belgrade, Serbia. Sanita Puspure ended an eight-year wait for medal success in a top, international rowing event when she finished third.
