San Francisco Giants open a ‘social media cafe’… whatever that is

Fans will have the chance to read the latest tweets, popular Instagram photos and Facebook posts on big screens in @Cafe.

IN A BID to become the most-progressive Major League Baseball team, the San Francisco Giants have opened a social-media cafe at their stadium.

The reigning World Series champions, who boast almost 1.7 million Facebook fans and over 400,000 followers on Twitter, believe the cafe will help them exploit their social-media presence even further.

The Giants have opened ‘@Cafe’, as the social-media venue will be known, and San Francisco president Larry Baer praised his franchise’s achievement.

“You know this is a first, we have had some firsts in this ballpark and some firsts in sport occur in this ballpark and we think today really is the first of its kind, the first social media headquarters located in a ballpark and we think we are the perfect candidate to do that,” Baer said.

Fans will have the chance to read the latest tweets, popular Instagram photos and Facebook posts on big screens in @Cafe. But the Giants may rue the new venue at AT&T Park based on their fans response to the current MLB season.

San Francisco have won just 35 of their 68 matches this season to sit third in the National League West.
