Twitter explodes in fury as Liverpool and Chelsea players swap jerseys at half-time

The Chelsea and Liverpool rivals may come in for some stick from their fans after their on-pitch swapsies.

SAMUEL ETO’O SCORED his third league goal of the season to put Chelsea 2-1 up against Liverpool and then swapped jerseys with one of their defenders.

The Cameroon international traded jerseys with Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho at half-time. While trade-offs are not uncommon in football, most players wait until the game is over before seeking out their opponents.

Arsenal’s Andre Santos copped some flak from Gunners supporters last season after TV cameras caught him asking former teammate Robin van Persie, who had moved on to Manchester United, for his jersey. Van Persie had netted against Arsenal in the first-half. Santos was sold on before the season was over.

Philippe Coutinho and Oscar were also reported to have swapped jersey at the break in Stamford Bridge.

The premature jersey swap came in for some criticism on Twitter:
