The Manchester City midfielder injured his knee in action against Newcastle United yesterday.

SAMIR NASRI HAS revealed that he faces eight weeks on the sidelines after injuring his left knee while in action for Manchester City yesterday.

Nasri had a scan this morning on the injured left knee that had left his season hanging in the balance.

The Manchester City midfielder was on crutches and wore a leg brace at Bridgewater Hospital earlier today.

Initial reports on Sunday suggested that Nasri had damaged his medial knee ligament in the 2-0 win against Newcastle and that the Frenchman could be in danger of missing the World Cup.

But he has now confirmed on his Twitter account that he will be out of action for eight weeks.

Manuel Pellegrini blasted Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa for the tackle which left Nasri in tears as he was stretchered off in St James’ Park.

But the City boss refused to rush to any conclusions until his player had been seen by doctors.

“Maybe it’s medial ligaments. We’ll see [Monday] what happens with him,” he told Sky Sports.
