EUROPE WILL TAKE a commanding 10 – 6 lead into the final day of this year’s Ryder Cup after this afternoon’s foursomes brought three and a half points.
The score sat at 6 1/2 to 5 1/2 at the start of the session, but by the time the big win of the day came for Graeme McDowell and Victor Dubuisson, the blue flag was flying high.

The European pairing ran out five and four winners after birdies at two, three and six, with the Americans gifting the two other points through bogeys.
Fowler and Walker were playing for the fourth time in two days, the only pair on the US team to do so, having halved their three previous games in 18-hole thrillers.

They pulled one back with their first birdie of the day at the 11th, but it was all over three holes later with the European duo once again five ahead.

McIlroy was playing for the fourth straight session, having partnered Ian Poulter to a halve against Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker earlier in the day. Garcia sat out the fourballs.
The European pair were 2-up after two holes before a bogey at the third pegged them back.
Furyk and Mahan, winners in the morning over Lee Westwood and Jamie Donaldson, had their chances to get back to parity, but it stayed 1-up to the home team through to the 14th when McIlroy sunk a vital birdie putt.
Two holes later, it was all over as another McIlroy birdie saw off the American challenge.
Home favourite Jamie Donaldson was also on the winner’s podium alongside Lee Westwood after they defeated Zach Johnson and Matt Kuchar two and one while Patrick Reed had his head in his hands after this missed putt helped Martin Kaymer and Justin Rose to a half of the point.
