Bronze medal for Ireland's Ryan Mullen at European Road Cycling Championships

The medal comes just a month after winning the National Road Race Championships.

IT’S BEEN QUITE a few weeks for Ryan Mullen.

On 22 June he saw off 2016 champion Nicolas Roche to win the National Time Trial Championships in a time of 40:47.

Three days later he won the National Road Race Championships to complete the double for the second time in his career.

And today he took a bronze medal in the men’s elite time trial  at the European Road Championships, finishing on the podium behind Belgium’s Victor Campenaerts and Maciej Bodnar of Poland.

The medal is the 22-year old’s third in international competition having claimed silver in the time trial at the European Junior Road Championships in 2012 and silver in the same event at the World U23 Championships two years later.
