A MAN IN New Zealand has been convicted of assaulting his 11-year-old son after the boy’s underage rugby side lost a match, the Otago Daily Times reports.
Prosecutors told the Alexandra District Court that the man, a rugby coach in the Central Otago region, arrived home heavily intoxicated on the evening of the game and headbutted his son as he blamed him for the defeat.
The defendant accepted the assault charges, though he told police that he had just “pressed his head” against his son’s.
He was remanded on bail ahead of sentencing in September.
