CORK’S FOOTBALLERS HAVE been struck again by the cruciate curse after it was confirmed that Ruairi Deane tore his knee ligament in training this week.
The Bantry midfielder, who featured in all three of Cork’s Division 1 games this season, will begin rehab next week under the guidance of surgeon Tadhg O’Sullivan.
Deane captained Cork’s Junior team to the All-Ireland last year and was rewarded with a place in Brian Cuthbert’s plans for 2014.
After coming off the bench against Westmeath, he made his first league start in the win over Kildare and then made another substitute appearance against Dublin in Croke Park last week.
