Keane: “It isn’t fair to either Villa or Ireland, so I’ve made this decision." Donall Farmer/INPHO

The bookies have their say on Keano's next move

Keane quits as Aston Villa assistant after just 151 days.

BOOKMAKERS HAVE ALREADY started to speculate on Roy Keane’s next move following his shock departure from Aston Villa.

Keane quit the Midlands club after just 151 days and said that it was no longer feasible to juggle his dual roles as assistant manager at Villa and Ireland.

Paddy Power were quick to price up Keane’s options and made it a 6/4 shot that his next permanent manager’s job would be as Ireland boss.

The top job at Villa as well as a return to one of his former clubs — Celtic, Nottingham Forest or Manchester United — also feature at the top of the market.

If you fancy him to take over at Rangers it’s 100/1, which means that if you put €1 down, you’ll lose your euro.

Here’s the early betting:

  • Ireland 6/4
  • Aston Villa 3/1
  • Celtic 4/1
  • Nottingham Forest 10/1
  • Man Utd 14/1
  • Leeds 14/1
  • Leicester 14/1
  • Newcastle 14/1
  • West Ham 20/1
  • Rangers 100/1
