ASTON VILLA MANAGER Paul Lambert insists that Roy Keaneโs departure was not the result of a dressing room bust-up.
Keane left the Premier League club last week in order to concentrate on his duties as Ireland assistant but reports in the media on Monday suggested that his sudden exit was down to a falling out.
However, Lambert spoke out after last nightโs 1-0 win over Crystal Palace and says he would like to put the story to bed.
โIf anyone wants to know about Roy, Iโll put it on your plate so you know: thereโs absolutely no problem whatsoever,โ Lambert said.
โHeโs got a lot of commitments with Ireland, heโs never had a break from going away with Ireland, and never had a break from Aston Villa. So I totally respect his decision.
Contrary to reports, there was absolutely nothing, absolutely no bust-up, no arguing, nothing like that. I thank him for his time coming to work for me.
โI spoke to him before the Burnley game, after the Burnley game, and we still have the same relationship. So I just want to put that to bed, alright?โ
Poor chap knew the moment it happened that his WC was over.
Always hate to see fellas get injured this close to the rwc..
Sports can be cruel too at times
Really felt for the guy watching that unfold on Saturday. Was hoping it was not too serious, sport can be so terribly cruel.
Very bad luck.
Heartbreaking for him. He looks like the real deal and comes across as a good bloke. Was hoping it wasnโt a muscle injury and heโd have some chance of making it.
