POLL: Would Roy Keane and Martin O'Neill make a good management team?

A stroke of genius or a recipe for disaster? You tell us.

ROY KEANE IS close to a stunning return to the Irish national team as assistant to Martin O’Neill, according to various reports tonight.

Keane has not worked as a manager or coach since being sacked by Ipswich Town in January 2011, but the apparently imminent appointment of O’Neill to the Ireland job will offer him a route back into football.

Both men have had a few ups and downs in their managerial career to this point – O’Neill’s low points far outweighed by the highs – but together, can they help Ireland become greater than the sum of their parts or will it all end in tears?
