Rovers set for pre-Christmas showdown with Tottenham in Dublin

Shamrock Rovers will play Tottenham at White Hart Lane on 29 September, with the Premier League side making the trip to Dublin in the middle of December.

THE FIXTURES FOR Shamrock Rovers’ Europa League campaign have been released, with the Airtricity League heroes set to face Tottenham in Dublin on 15 December.

Michael O’Neill’s team will become the first Irish side to take part in the group stages of any major European competition when they play Rubin Kazan in Dublin on 15 September.

They visit White Hart Lane a fortnight later before making the trip to Thessaloniki to play PAOK on 20 October.

The return match against PAOK takes place in Dublin on 3 November, the Hoops will then make a lengthy trip to Russia for the away clash in Kazan, before the potentially lucrative duel with Harry Redknapp’s men in Dublin on 15 December.

While Rovers are, of course, based in Tallaght Stadium the club has not ruled out moving at least one of the matches to the Aviva Stadium.

Chairman Jonathan Roche has expressed his desire to keep all the ties in Tallaght; we’ve not been able to contact him all day. The Hoops delegation didn’t make it to Monaco for the draw earlier due to a missed connecting flight.

The club’s website also crashed immediately after news broke of their opponents, presumably under the weight of global interest.

Sky Sports have reported that the Spurs game will be moved to Lansdowne Rd, meanwhile.
