CORK AND KILKENNY produced some excellent hurling at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday afternoon, the Rebels beating Brian Cody’s men by two points in the finish.
The match – a fiercely fought contest that saw the visitors have Richie Power sent off late on – ended Cork 1-17 Kilkenny 1-15.

Kilkenny had actually led at the interval 1-10 to 1-8, thanks to a Power penalty, with Cork’s goal coming from Paudie O’Sullivan.
However, the inspiration Pat Horgan saw Cork upset the Cats. Horgan helped himself to a haul of eight points.
For Kilkenny, insult was added to considerable injury when Power, having scored all but four of his side’s tally, was sent off for a wild pull.
Division 1A’s other game between Galway and Waterford also proved to be a tight affair.
The game finished Waterford 1-14 Galway 0-16 at Pearse Stadium.
John Mullane was the talk of the Déise faithful in the run-up to the match and he proved to be the scourge of the Tribesmen, scoring just two points but making himself central to all of his side’s best work.
Both sides had men sent off in the opening half, with Shane O’Sullivan and Galway corner-back Declan Connolly both walking, with Waterford going into the break 0-8 to 0-5 up.
A goal from Shane Walsh, six minutes into the second half, put Waterford just that bit too far ahead of Galway. Walsh flicked Mullane’s hand-pass past James Skehill.
A double from Barry Ryan and a great effort from substitute Brian Flaherty almost saw Galway come back into it, but time elapsed as Walsh’s late point sealed the win.
