McIlroy's stunning approach at the Irish Open named Shot of the Year

Beautiful!

RORY MCILROY’S approach on the 18th hole in the final round of the Irish Open has been voted the 2016 Shot of the Year by European Tour fans.

A stunning shot from 252 yards left the county Down golfer within three feet of the hole for a closing eagle, as he went on to win the tournament for the first time in his career.

The 27-year-old, who also claimed the same title on the PGA Tour for his remarkable effort on the 16th in the Tour Championship, secured nearly a third of the votes, finishing ahead of Scott Hend’s albatross at the Shenzhen International.
