Golf fan bets a thousand quid on McIlroy for Masters because he sees Rory's face in his Danish pastry

The Jason Day croissants were good too.

IT’S AS GOOD a way to pick a winner as any.

One golf fan says he’s lumped £1,000 on Rory McIlroy to win the US Masters this weekend after finding what looked like McIlroy’s face burnt into the top of his Danish pastry.

Rob Price, a college lecturer living in Andover, England posted the picture of his cake to Twitter last night before publishing a screengrab of a Betfair betting slip showing his £1,000 outlay on Rory McIlroy at 11/1.

“I couldn’t believe it when I picked up my Danish from the local bakery in Andover only to see what looked like Rory McIlroy’s face burnt into the top of it,” he said.

“I was going to put some money on Rory to win The Masters this year anyway, but I’m pretty superstitious so when this happened, instead of putting £100 down, I decided to go big and put £1000 on through my Betfair account.

“It’s got to be a sign – Rory’s face on a piece of food from his girlfriend’s home country. My mates have had a giggle and think I’m mad, but if I pocket £11,000, I’ll be the one laughing.”

Believe it?

I can’t imagine finishing career without a green jacket, admits Rory McIlroy
