Rory McIlroy and Alex Ferguson to speak at special Dublin event

Actor James Nesbitt will be the host on the night so there will probably be plenty of talk about Manchester United.

WORLD NUMBER THREE golfer Rory McIlroy and former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson have been confirmed for an evening of guest speaking in Dublin on 17 May.

With the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open kicking off at The K Club just two days later, the Holywood golfer has organised the night in Dublin’s Convention Centre to raise funds for his charity, The Rory Foundation.

Ferguson will be there to talk about his remarkable career at the helm of one of the world’s biggest football clubs.

McIlroy is a big Manchester United fan, and also in attendance on the night will be a man of a similar disposition, actor James Nesbitt. He will host the event, so you can expect plenty of discussion around life, past and present, at Old Trafford.

All proceeds from the night will go to The Rory Foundation. Tickets are on sale now and cost €63.60 at an ‘Early Bird’ rate, which is available until 13 April.

McIlroy is currently in action at the WGC Dell Match Play in Austin Texas. He takes on Smylie Kaufman today, having beaten Thorbjorn Olesen on the final hole yesterday, from 6pm Irish time. You can follow the scoring here.
