Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first Anfield goal tonight - and it was a bit special

Real beat Liverpool 3-0 thanks to a Ronaldo gem and Benzema double.

CRISTIANO RONALDO’S FIRST Anfield goal and a double from Karim Benzema helped Real Madrid to victory against Liverpool.

The reigning champions of Europe won 3-0 on a grim Champions League night for the home fans.

Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, racing on to a James Rodriguez pass before hooking the ball brilliantly beyond Simon Mignolet:

Benzema doubled the visitors’ advantage seven minutes later, rising above Glen Johnson at the back post to steer Toni Kroos’ lofted cross home:

Benzema pounced on some sloppy defending to score his second and Real’s third shortly before the break:

The result sees Madrid top the group on nine points and edge closer to the last 16.

The remainder are neck and neck on three points each after Ludogorets scored a late 1-0 win against Basel this evening.
