INDIA’S ROHIT SHARMA hit a remarkable 264 against Sri Lanka to set a new world record.

In a striking masterclass, Sharma hit 32 fours and nine sixes to contribute well over half of India’s 404-5 total.

He was caught out on the final ball of the 50-over innings.

Now to the records. Sharma is:

• The highest ever individual scorer in a one-day international
• The first man to hit 250 in an ODI
• The first man to score two double centuries in an ODI (he aslo scored 209 against Australia)
