RONNIE O’SULLIVAN ONLY needs two more frames to advance to the final of the World Championship, after he took a 15-9 lead over Wales’ Matthew Stevens on Saturday afternoon.
The Rocket led 11-5 going into the third session but saw Stevens take the first two frames on Saturday morning, reducing the arrears to four frames.
After O’Sullivan took the 19th frame of the match, Stevens hit back by knocking off another two to make the game 12-9.
The standard of snooker failed to dazzle the Crucible crowd, with both players making silly unforced errors and the biggest break a 51 from Stevens in the final frame of the session, the third in succession won by O’Sullivan to leave himself only a couple of frames away from another final.
