Get in! Irish team thrash German rivals in RoboCup opener

Let’s not get too excited here but, just in case, book up O’Connell Street for a homecoming parade.

WE SHALL NOT too carried away but it looks as if Ireland are set for a famous RoboCup 2014 triumph in Germany.

Robo Eireann got off to a flyer this afternoon as they thrashed HULKs (Hamburg Ultra Legendary Kickers) 5-0 in their opening match of the preliminary stages. The Irish crew, based out of NUI Maynooth, will power off their robots until Friday when they take on the catchily named pride of Leipzig, Nao Team HTWK.

Here are some of the best images from the second day of football/robotic competition.
