Preston boss plays it cool when asked about signing Robbie Keane

No shortage of interest in Ireland’s record goalscorer, says Simon Grayson.

PRESTON NORTH END manager Simon Grayson kept his cards close to his chest on Thursday when asked about his plans to sign Robbie Keane.

Ireland’s record goalscorer has been strongly linked with the Championship side since leaving LA Galaxy as a free agent.

Keane, 36, appeared to rule out moves to Australia and China this week, and has already quashed rumours of a League of Ireland stint with hometown club Shamrock Rovers.

While Grayson cagily admitted his interest, he refused to say if Preston have already spoken to the legendary striker.

“I’m not going to dismiss it, but I’m not going to say that the interest is full on,” Grayson told BBC Radio Lancashire.

“If Robbie Keane is available, then he is a player that is going to attract a lot of interest from a lot of clubs.

“Would we be interested? I’m sure every club in the Championship would be looking forward to an opportunity to speak to him.”
