ROBBIE KEANE HAS been ruled out of tomorrow night’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Germany.
An achilles injury forced the Ireland captain to fail a fitness test this morning at Gannon Park.

“Robbie will remain with the squad to undergo treatment, and will hopefully be available for the Faroe Islands game on Tuesday night,” an FAI statement reads.
Yesterday, the LA Galaxy striker sat out the training session in Malahide, giving rise to fears that he might have picked up an injury during the squad’s workout. But Marco Tardelli insisted Ireland’s all-time record goalscorer just ‘had a knock’ and would be fit to face Jogi Loew’s side at Lansdowne Rd.
Keane’s injury is the latest problem for Trap injury-hit squad following the withdrawals earlier this week of Sean St Ledger, Glenn Whelan, Kevin Doyle and James McClean.
Manager Giovanni Trapattoni will face the media at 3pm, so we’ll learn more then — including his starting team and a replacement skipper.
