Bad news for Robbie Brady as he's set for long spell out with serious knee injury

Burnley confirmed the news this morning.

BURNLEY HAVE CONFIRMED that Ireland’s Robbie Brady is to undergo knee surgery and faces a ‘substantial’ period on the sidelines.

After injuring his left knee in their weekend fixture, Brady has since been under medical assessment and manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that the winger sustained damage to his patellar tendon.

“Robbie will have surgery to repair a patellar tendon tear and will be out for a substantial recovery period,” Dyche told the club’s official website.

“He will be given all the time and care he needs on his recovery and supported throughout from all of us at Burnley Football Club.”

Brady lasted less than half an hour of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, and was stretchered off following a heavy collision.

He had been in promising form for the Clarets in recent weeks, with the lay-off coming as a blow to the side ahead of a busy Christmas period.

In other news though, Brady has been nominated for EA Sport’s Premier League Player of the month alongside Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Shkodran Mustafi, Mohamed Salah, Raheem Sterling and Ashley Young.
