MUNSTER COACH ROB Penney was glad to see his team bounce back with a comfortable win over Newport Gwent Dragons at Musgrave Park.
A defeat to Treviso last weekend prevented the province from becoming the first side to earn maximum point victories in their opening three games in the competition but tries from James Cronin and Peter O’Mahony were enough to earn a 23-9 victory.

“It was important to bounce back,” Penney said. “I don’t think our confidence was dented to majorly from last week but it was important that we got a result. The boys responded really well.
“We put ourselves in the position to push on but we couldn’t quite do it for one reason or another. The ultimate aim is to gather your points as the season goes on. Hopefully we can build on that from here.”
On squad rotation, Penney also expressed his satisfaction with how it is going: ”We’re trying to expose people to football. We’re going to need a lot of players when the international boys are gone.
“We’ve got to allow for up to 11 or 12 players to go, and we need players to replace them. That’s the reason we’re giving everybody an opportunity.
We’ve got a great grasp at where we’re at. It’s about creating depth. We’re going to need to go to the well and the well has got to be deep.
“In order to have success in the competitions we’re involved in you need depth of players and that’s something that we’re happy about.”
