THE ENGLISH FA could take action against Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand after an off-the-ball incident involving Fernando Torres yesterday.
During the closing minutes of the FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford, which finished 2-2 and will go to a replay, Ferdinand appeared to stand on the back of the Spanish striker before picking him up off the ground.

While Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez said he hadn’t seen a replay of the talking point, action from the FA will be down to whether referee Howard Webb mentions the altercation in his match report.
If Webb reveals that he didn’t see what happened, the governing body can begin a disciplinary hearing with Ferdinand.
