Ricky Nixon cleared to work as agent while in Ireland as probe referred to barrister

No suspension as Nixon vows to cooperate with investigation from Ireland.

AFL AGENT RICKY NIXON will continue to operate his Flying Start management company whatever the result of a probe into his ‘inappropriate dealings’ with a 17-year-old girl.

The Aussie Rules ‘super-scout’ is  in Ireland ‘on business’ ahead of the Sigerson Cup weekend at UCD next week.

Yesterday tournament organisers told TheScore they don’t know if he’ll attend the event at Belfield.

Nixon has been at the centre of a sex scandal in which the girl alleges she engaged in a sexual relationship with the 47-year-old.

Earlier, the AFL Players Association referred the case to a Melbourne barrister. He will now conduct an independent investigation into the claims.

However the AFLPA said that Flying Start was not subject to the probe and whatever the outcome Nixon will be in a position to manage his company. An association official Ian Prendergast told the Sydney Morning Herald that he had spoken to Nixon from Ireland.

“He informed us before he left of his intention to go to Ireland,” Prendergast said.

He indicated he would be willing to co-operate with any investigation while he is overseas.

Background

The girl at the centre of the crisis has published naked photographs of St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt and teammate Nick Dal Santo, who are managed by Nixon. She claims she and Nixon began their relationship a month ago.

Nixon has strongly rejected her allegation that they had sex. He has said his relationship with her was ‘inappropriate’ however.

Earlier this week, the girl, who cannot be named, revealed a video she says she took allegedly showing Nixon with her in a hotel room.

The video showed an ID card allegedly belonging to Nixon and a white powder on a table.
