Richardt Strauss out of Ireland's 6 Nations squad, while Declan Kidney calls up 7 more

LEINSTER’S RICHARDT STRAUSS has been ruled out of Ireland’s 6 Nations campaign.

The South African-born hooker is facing up to 12 weeks on the sidelines with ankle ligament damage, the IRFU confirmed this afternoon.

Declan Kidney, meanwhile, has called up seven more players to the Ireland training squad today.

Munster’s James Coughlan, Tommy O’Donnell, Damien Varley, Mike Sherry, Ian Keatley as well as the Leinster duo of Rhys Ruddock and Kevin McLaughlin will join the training squad in Carton House this week.
