Richard Dunne axed by Aston Villa after injury-hit season

Paul Lambert has decided to cut his losses with the Ireland man.

IRELAND DEFENDER Richard Dunne will not be offered new terms by Aston Villa and will have to now look for a new club, according to reports.

The veteran Dubliner missed the entirety of the season since returning to the Premier League club with hip and groin injuries in the wake of Ireland’s disastrous Euro 2012 campaign a year ago.

Paul Lambert — who has not seen Dunne line out for Villa since his arrival at the club 12 months ago — has now decided to leave Dunne go.

The former Everton and Man City man will be 34 in September.
