Trapattoni confirms Richard Dunne will miss Sweden and Austria matches

The Ireland manager broke the news at a fundraiser in Drogheda tonight.

IRELAND MANAGER GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI has confirmed that Richard Dunne will miss the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Sweden and Austria.

Trapattoni revealed the bad news when he made an appearance at the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre in Drogheda tonight.

The Italian will have to plan without the Aston Villa defender, who has struggled with injuries since Euro 2012, for the two matches later this month.

Trapattoni said Marc Wilson, who has recovered from a leg break and is back in action for Stoke, and Everton’s Seamus Coleman will both be named in the Ireland squad for the qualifiers.

The full Irish squad is due to be named at midday tomorrow.

Earlier today, the FAI announced Ireland will play Georgia in a home friendly on 5 June.
