Richard Dunne facing eight weeks on the sidelines, Villa confirm

The Dubliner hurt his shoulder during the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City yesterday, after falling heavily when challenging England keeper Joe Hart.

IRELAND’S TALISMANIC DEFENDER Richard Dunne is facing up to two months on the sidelines with a fractured clavicle, Aston Villa have confirmed.

The Dubliner hurt his shoulder during the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City yesterday, after falling heavily when challenging England keeper Joe Hart.

Dunne will undergo surgery today and is expected to then face eight weeks out of action

A club statement reads: “Richard Dunne sustained a fracture to his right clavicle in the game against Manchester City. He will undergo an operation today in Birmingham. It is anticipated that he will be sidelined for up to eight weeks.”

Earlier, Everton defender Shane Duffy was called into the senior national set-up by Giovanni Trapattoni in place of Dunne.
