Relapse ruins Moran's comeback hopes

Kerry’s David Moran faces another lenthy period on the sidelines after sustaining a second cruciate ligament injury in training.

KINGDOM STAR DAVID Moran looks unlikely to play a role in his county’s Championship campaign this season after sustaining a cruciate ligament rupture while training with his club, Kerins O’Rahilly’s of Tralee.

Though details have yet to be released, the forward, son of Denis “Ogie” Moran, is thought to have suffered a relapse of the knee injury he sustained during Kerry’s Allianz Football League clash with Monaghan in April of last year.

A statement issued by Kerry GAA this afternoon reads:

“David Moran has severed his cruciate knee ligament while training with his club last weekend. This is a massive blow to both Kerry and David himself.
We wish him a speedy recovery.”

Prior to this latest setback, Moran had been hopeful of returning to the Kerry starting 15.
