VIDEO: This referee got so fed up that he decided to disregard the yellow-card rule

Carlos Maglio adopted an unorthodox method in an attempt to control the players of Estudiantes and Gimnasia.

COMMENTATORS OFTEN REFER to referees being in danger of ‘losing control’ of a game, yet Argentinian official Carlos Maglio has come up with a potential solution to his colleagues’ frequent perils.

In the recent match between Estudiantes and Gimnasia, Maglio became so fed up with both sides’ ill discipline that he handed the yellow card in his back pocket to the fourth official and opted to refrain from using it for the duration of the encounter.

He consequently only had the option of using a red card thereafter.

Maglio’s action was not a severe enough warning for one player, however — after committing a bad challenge late on in the game, Estudiantes’ Israel Damonte was promptly given his marching orders by the beleaguered official.
