Redknapp tipping tight finish in battle for Champions League football

Redknapp believes it is too close to call the race for a top-four finish, with Chelsea and Newcastle United also in the hunt with eight rounds to go.

TOTTENHAM MANAGER Harry Redknapp expects the race for Champions League qualification to go down to the wire.

Spurs won their first Premier League game since February on Sunday, beating Swansea 3-1 to draw level on points with third-placed Arsenal in the league standings. Redknapp believes it is too close to call the race for a top-four finish, with Chelsea and Newcastle United also in the hunt with eight rounds to go.

“It’s so tight for third and fourth place,” Redknapp said.  ”It’s going to be close, I wouldn’t like to call it.

“If we get five wins we will get Champions League football next season, I’m sure of that.  I would love to get third, I would love to finish above Arsenal if I can.”

The Tottenham manager is adamant his side have been playing well despite going five league games without a win leading into Sunday’s clash with Swansea.

“I haven’t been going home at night wondering how long it’s been since we won,” Redknapp said.  ”I just know we have been playing well, it’s not been a problem.”
