Recital out of Sunday's Irish Derby

Aidan O’Brien’s wife Anne-Marie tells Twitter followers that they weren’t ’100% happy’ this morning.

AIDAN O’BRIEN’S RECITAL has been ruled out of Sunday’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, it has emerged this afternoon.

O’Brien’s wife Anne-Marie broke the news to fans on Twitter this afternoon.

Recital won the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial this year, Ireland’s top prep-race for the Epsom Derby.

He failed to act on the unique Downs, with Pat Smullen, riding in the absence of Kieren Fallon who was stopped by a High Court injunction brought against him by the owners of Native Khan, guiding him into sixth place.

But Anne-Marie O’Brien wrote: “We weren’t 100% happy with Recital this morning so he will not run in the Derby on Sunday. Roderic O’Connor will be left in the race and is a possible to run instead.”

The three-year-old had been as low as 4-1 for the race. Abu Dhabi Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Roderic O’Connor could represent the trainer however, according to the Racing Post.

O’Brien is bidding for his sixth straight win in the race.
