FORMER MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder Ravel Morrison is training with Wigan Athletic as he looks to secure a move back to England after a disastrous spell with Lazio.
The 23-year-old, who had failed to make an appearance for the Serie A club this season and has been allowed leave the club, was invited to train with Wigan by manager and former mentor Warren Joyce.
Joyce would have overseen Morrisonโs development through Man Unitedโs youth and academy structures and reports say he linked-up with the Wigan squad yesterday.
Morrison was widely-considered as one of the most promising English players of his generation after breaking through at Man United as a 17-year-old.
But after failing to kick-on at Old Trafford, Morrison has endured a troubled career since after spells with West Ham, Birmingham, QPR, Cardiff and then Lazio.
The England U21 international moved to Italy on a four-year contract in July 2015 but played just four games for Lazio during an unsettled time in Rome.
Joyce, however, believes he can get the best out of Morrison and use him to aid his sideโs bid to avoid relegation after a difficult first half of the season.
Wigan are currently languishing in 23rd in the Championship with just four wins from 25 league outings.
They welcome Nottingham Forest to the DW Stadium in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

cant believe he is only 23
he has time yet
so many lads like this down the years
Michael Branch at Everton back in the 90โฒs was gonna be a superstar
Danny Cadamarteri! Remember him..
Its the same at GAA. Every all star always had a mad brother who was even better but couldnt behave himself of a Friday night!
Apparently very gifted but no choir boy. Brave man Warren
The main problem with ravel at Wigan is location heโs only 20 mins away from the influences and problems that had him shipped out at old Trafford , best of luck to him but I canโt see him being anything near what he should have been
Well hopefully heโll look at pogba who he won the fact youth cup with. Compare their respective careers and wages, and start to cope on.
If Joyce canโt rescue him, then thatโs a serious talented lad gone to waste, hopefully he can eek out the maturity and talent required for the game
Donโt put all your eggs in a headcase.
@liam, Michael branch was never gonna be a star at everton
I hope it all wonโt unโravelโ for him there! โ Iโll get my coat.!
Cant believe heโs still only 23!!..He still has time to cop on and make a career but its running out fast!!..Thought he was going to make a go of it at West Ham, he tore Spurs a new one at White Hart Lane not so long ago!..be an awful waste!
