LIVERPOOL HAVE MADE no signings on Monday’s transfer deadline with key target Alex Teixeira staying put at Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Brazilian has been the priority for the Merseysiders in the January window, but despite ongoing talks and initial encouragement from the Ukrainian side over a sale, the club have increased their price for the attacker from £38 million to £53 million.

Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin insisted they would not sanction Teixeira’s exit in the current transfer window, adding “we will sit down at the negotiating table at the end of the season.”
The 26-year-old has repeatedly stated his desire to depart for Liverpool in this window, but negotiations have not gone the way he expected them to.
Teixeira was under the impression that Shakhtar were “working on a solution,” but following face-to-face talks with Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre in Florida, the Miners have been delivering mixed messages.
The Reds have only tabled one bid for Teixeira in the region of £24m with £3m in add-ons. Discussions took place over a compromise on Shakhtar’s original valuation, but instead of lowering their fee and abiding by coach Mircea Lucescu’s stance of not wanting “to keep a player against his desire,” the Ukrainians have since increased their asking price and adopted a hardline approach.
Meanwhile, reports linking the Anfield outfit with a move for Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev were off target.
The Russia international is not a possible signing that was looked at in this window.
